Reporting to the Director of Athletic Compliance and the Office of the General Counsel, the associate director will provide support of day-to-day operations involving NCAA/Big Ten/WCHA compliance at the University of Minnesota. Responsibilities will consist of providing direct support to a variety of sports programs which will include, initial eligibility, continuing eligibility, interpretations of NCAA legislation, and waiver review. In addition the individual will lead in supervision of the internship program work with document review, compiling reports, assisting in creating educational documents, data entry and other duties as assigned.
Advising and assisting in the work required to comply with all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Big Ten Conference, Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and University of Minnesota rules and regulations.
Represent the compliance office in the absence of the Director.
Oversee all compliance office matters for Football and other sports designated by the Director.
Assist in providing written rules interpretations to all athletic staff.
Assist in preparing and presenting educational material for support staff, coaches, athletic department staff, and other University staff.
Assisting with compliance office and athletic department projects and tasks as assigned by the director.
Provide support to other members of the compliance staff.
Analyze complex problems and provide solutions.
This postiion is hybrid, with a minimum of three days on campus or as schedule dictates.
Minimum qualifications: BA/BS plus at least five years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least nine years.
Preferred qualifications: Masters or law degree; three years’ experience or more in Division I intercollegiate athletic compliance; experience with NCAA applications; experience with college or professional football.
