The Head Men's Golf Coach at Piedmont University is responsible for the management and administration of all phases of the program and team, within the guidelines, rules and regulations of Piedmont University, the NCAA, and the conference. This includes the instruction and recruitment of academically-qualified student-athletes for a NCAA Division III women's golf program.
Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions.
Coach team during scheduled events. Assists in coaching duties for both men’s and women’s NCAA Division III golf programs. May specialize in one or more specific areas of coaching expertise or a specific component of a team program. Assists with all aspects of recruitment and training of student-athletes.
Develop a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport actively seeking new methods and strategies.
Maintain continuing and thorough familiarity with the applicable NCAA rules and the rules and regulations of Piedmont University and be responsible for compliance with all NCAA rules.
Be accountable for sport's budget.
Scout and recruit quality student-athletes and coordinate all recruiting activities with appropriate athletics administration.
Assists in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practice, training, and competition, typically in a key area of sporting discipline
Designs and implements specific conditioning programs and/or training routines as appropriate to improve athletic performance.
Conducts recruitment of student-athletes in accordance with NCAA and Conference rules through scouting, on-site attendance, and home visits.
Assists in monitoring and supporting student-athletes in academic progress. May assist in planning and arranging team travel and may perform other administrative duties as appropriate.
Recommends athletes for recognition, including NCAA, and Conference awards and end of season banquet.
Abides by all NCAA and Conference rules.
Completes the NCAA rules test annually.
Other relevant duties as assigned.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
On-site work is required.
Incumbents must remain relevant in the area of employment and flexible to changes in work related to institutional needs.
Education and Experience
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Bachelor's degree; minimum directly related experience requirement is determined by the Athletic Director.
Licenses and Certification
Current certification in CPR/AED training.
Valid Georgia Driver’s License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrate competitive knowledge and coaching skills in the area of golf.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with student athletes
In-depth knowledge of golf and NCAA playing rules.
Knowledge of NCAA rules governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
Knowledge of athletic training and conditioning programs and routines
Compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required in this position
Ability to collaboratively and effectively work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Environmental, Physical, and Visual Acuity Factors
Incumbents are subject working in both internal and external working conditions where they will be subject to exposure to extreme heat or temperatures above 100 degrees and extreme cold or temperatures below 32 degrees.
Incumbents will perform a medium level of work where they may exert up to 50lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs of force frequently, and up to 10lbs of force constantly. Incumbents must have close visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
The duties of this position will be required to: climb or ascend or descend stairs, ramps, or hills; balance or maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching; stoop or bend downward and forward by bending at the spine or waist; kneel or bending legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees; crouch or bend body downward and forward by bending leg and spine; crawl or move about on hands and knees or hands and feet; reach or extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; stand or remain upright on the feet; walk or move about on foot to accomplish tasks; push and pull or use upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward; lift or raise objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position; finger; grasp; feel; talk to express or exchange ideas; hear to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels; and make repetitive motions.
