The University of California, Los Angeles is accepting applications for the position of Staff Associate within the Office of Academic Excellence. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary range of $51,302.16 - $59,695.92/year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Under the direct supervision of the Associate Athletic Director of Academic Excellence at the Office of Academic Excellence, the Staff Associate will provide overall office management for Office of Academic Excellence (OAE) in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA). Specifically, the Staff Associate will provide administrative and clerical support for the Associate Athletic Director of Academic Excellence. The Staff Associate will also provide administrative and clerical support to the various programs and services offered by OAE. Finally, this position will assist the Associate Athletic Director of Academic Excellence, the Director of Academic Excellence, the Director of Student Athlete Counseling, the Assistant Director of Eligibility Services and other OAE staff with several responsibilities pertaining to the continuing academic eligibility certification process.

All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities/qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or minimum of five years’ experience serving as an executive assistant and/or office manager is preferred; Demonstrated executive and administrative skills, both orally and in writing; Ability to exercise sound judgment to handle sensitive and confidential information and material with discretion; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of University and system-wide administration; Demonstrated superior public relations skills, including outstanding interpersonal skills to establish and interact effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, students, coaches, parents, Conference and NCAA officials, and relevant community; Ability to interact diplomatically with individuals of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds; Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation sufficient to compose, edit and proofread various documents; Word processing and computer skills to complete assignments with speed and accuracy; Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information; Ability to perform duties with accuracy, meeting deadlines, working effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions and fluctuating workload; Analytical skills to evaluate information and identify and resolve problems is preferred; Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, assignment, deadlines, competing requirements and very heavy workloads is preferred; Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction is preferred; Ability to operate Windows-based PC using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), Jump Forward and Compliance Assistant (CAi) is preferred; Working knowledge of University purchasing and accounting policies and procedures is preferred; Working knowledge of and ability to comply with University, Conference and NCAA Rules and Regulations is preferred.
