Position Summary: This position will have a dual reporting line; to the Director of NCAA Compliance and to the Head Softball Coach. Coaching responsibilities will include expertise, leadership, management and administration of all aspects of a competitive NCAA program which results in a positive intercollegiate experience for student-athletes. NCAA Compliance responsibilities will include implementation and maintenance of the athletic department’s comprehensive compliance program for the college’s NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics program. This administrator will assist with initial and continuing eligibility for more than 600 student-athletes, and monitoring and educating coaches in adherence with NCAA, NE10, NEWHA, and ECC bylaws and regulations. The successful candidate will also assist with scheduling and coordinating transportation with vendor motor coach companies.
Essential Responsibilities and Position Accountabilities (Administrative): -Assist in the management of ARMS, the athletic department’s compliance and recruiting software platform. -Assist to monitor athletics observance of NCAA legislation areas such as amateurism, recruiting, eligibility, awards and benefits, and playing and practice. -In conjunction with the Director of NCAA Compliance, conduct a comprehensive rules education program on an annual basis that strengthens and enhances the department’s compliance efforts. -Research and interpret rules for coaches, student-athletes, administrators, university staff and other representatives of athletic interest. -Perform compliance checks and monitoring of CARA. -Coordinate and approve recruiting official and unofficial visits and team tryouts. -Assist to investigate infractions of NCAA rules. -Coordinate team travel with coaches and vendor motor coach companies as well as create, distribute, and manage missed class notifications and travel letters. -Work diligently to encourage and create an atmosphere of NCAA compliance, governance, and institutional control. -Promote sportsmanship, professionalism and respect among the staff, coaches and student-athletes. -Other duties as assigned by department’s senior leadership team.
Essential Responsibilities and Position Accountabilities (Coaching): -Provide leadership, organization, supervision for all practices and varsity contests in conjunction with head coach. -Organize and implement a successful recruiting program which attracts academically and athletically gifted prospects—with an unwavering commitment to retention, degree completion and academic success. -Conduct all aspects of the program within the rules, regulations, and procedures of the NCAA, conference, athletic department policy manual and the College. -Encourage and create an atmosphere of sportsmanship, professionalism and respect among the athletic staff, coaches and student-athletes. -Review student-athlete eligibility requirements to ensure full compliance with governing rules and regulations. -Develop, coordinate and oversee comprehensive camps/clinics to increase involvement and participation. -Maintain relationships with parents, alumni, friends of the program, and others toward the positive image and promotion of the program and College. -Other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic administration.
Bachelor's degree required. Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal communications (written and oral) skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment is necessary. Attention to detail and accuracy; customer service oriented and able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, coaches and student-athletes. Must be comfortable working in team environment with a positive attitude and sense of humor. Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications required for this position include:
-Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
-NCAA compliance background check
-Successful completion of annual coach’s exam per NCAA guidelines
-Successful completion of first aid, CPR and AED certifications
