Position Focus: Assists in overseeing the daily operations at the facility to ensure safety, proper facility maintenance and effective coordination of all activities conducted at the facility. Provides support to the crew programs by assisting in the operation of the boathouse, including; maintenance of the facility, maintenance of the race course, repairs and coordination of crew equipment, etc. Primarily responsible for assisting Crew Operations Coordinator with maintenance/repairs, operation, and coordination related to crew team needs.
Answer questions, provide guidance, and resolve daily problems and obstacles. Train and oversee students and casual workers regarding program activities and safety. Responsible for maintaining and repairing safety launches, rowing shells and other specialized sports equipment. Responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the boathouse, including; filling gas tanks, equipment safety checks. Safely loading and transporting rowing equipment throughout the USA. Provides boathouse and equipment support to coaching staff and student-athletes as needed. Installing, maintaining and removing Albano race course systems. Providing race-site support to teams throughout the USA and the World. Maintenance and repair of indoor rowing and training equipment.
Essential Duties: 1. Handles and resolves all facility problems including scheduling conflicts, emergencies and shutdown decisions as necessary. 2. Provides input on budget, scheduling, and major purchasing decisions. Orders routing supplies as necessary. Services facility and equipment users. Provides information, receives money in payment of fees, issues receipts, and explains programs, schedules, rules, and regulations. 3. Enforces procedural rules and regulations. Monitors personal safety of athletic facility users. Schedules use of facility and equipment. Oversees, instructs, and coordinates the activity of support staff. 4. Serves as source of technical information on facility conditions, maintenance and related problems. Maintains security of facility and equipment. Opens and closes facility ensuring the users have left the premises. Inspects and maintains the general condition of facilities. Performs light cleaning and minor repairs and acts as liaison for maintenance and major repair activities. 5. Operates specialized equipment, tools, and vehicles. Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and vehicles by conducting routine maintenance services. Troubleshoots problems and coordinates vendor service as necessary. 6. Maintains records and completes financial, administrative and/or technical forms. Performs additional functions incidental to athletic attendant activities.
Required Education and Experience: Four years of related work experience, two of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and a high school level education; or two years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Specialized skills for maintenance and repair of rowing equipment. Including: assembly and repair of carbon fiber, fiberglass, wood, and metal parts; paint, stain, varnish.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated ability to load and drive a rowing shell trailer, specifically long-distance driving.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Understanding and familiarity with race course installation, maintenance and removal. Ability to work from a small boat, to work solo or in small groups, and ability to work to specifications.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Ability to maintain and repair of outboard engines.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Organization of work and storage spaces, scheduling, and workflows.
