The University of South Alabama, a NCAA Division I institution, charter member of the Sun Belt Conference and located on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, Alabama, is seeking applicants for the position of Athletic Trainer I.
The position's essential job functions are: * Provides athletic training and sports medicine services for University athletics to include attendance at scheduled team practices and designated competitions as assigned. * Prepares athletes for daily practices and games to prevent injuries and illnesses. * Implements rehabilitation program for musculoskeletal injuries. * Assists with coordination of personal protective equipment (PPE). * Coordinates medical appointments and doctor’s referrals. * Maintains medical record documentation of injuries, illness, treatments, health insurance administration and rehabilitations. * Works in conjunction with team physicians and medical director to ensure student athletes return to competition safely. * Enhances student-athlete wellness and welfare through education of concussions, nutrition, drug testing, and other topics associated with intercollegiate athletics. * Performs daily operation and maintenance of the medical facility athletic training room. * Regular and prompt attendance. * Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required. * Related duties as required.

Bachelors degree in physical education or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of experience in athletic training or a related field. A master’s degree may be substituted for the required experience.
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and National Athletic Trainers Association certification required.
