St. Bonaventure is seeking a Full Time Men's and Women's Swim Coach to assist with the management of a competitive NCAA Division I Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving program. As a full time employee, this 12-month position receives all applicable university benefits and privileges.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Responsible to assist with the management of a competitive NCAA Division I Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving program; assists with conditioning, practices, recruiting, travel arrangements, and student managers.
In conjunction with the Head Coach, plans and executes a successful program that would include duties such as:
- conducting regular team practice sessions
- coaching the student athletes, evaluating athletes performance in practice and competition
- monitoring the conditioning and training of student athletes, advises and counsels student athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility, as well as personal conduct and academics
- Arranges and conducts recruiting functions including off- and on-campus visits, evaluations and contacts of prospective student-athletes
- Ensures that necessary athletic equipment and gear is available and in proper condition for scheduled practices and competition and makes recommendation for repairs or replacement, as necessary. Works with department’s liaison to apparel company to order appropriate gear/uniforms
- Performs administrative tasks such as scheduling, travel arrangements, budget preparation and monitoring, and maintaining statistics. Attends coaches’ preparatory meetings and implements strategies resulting from these meetings
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s Preferred
- Prior coaching experience at the college or club sports level or as a collegiate athlete
- First Aid, CPR, AED Required (or willingness to obtain). Lifeguarding Certification required
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
St. Bonaventure University, a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Men’s & Women’s Swim Coach/Recruiting Coordinator. This is a full-time 12-month position.
The successful candidate will assist the head coach in all phases of a combined program including but not limited to: Coordinating the recruiting of qualified student-athletes; assisting with the organization of practices/competition including on-deck coaching; assist with scheduling and budget management; coordinating travel arrangements; monitoring of academic progress; social media outreach and alumni cultivation; and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must also demonstrate understanding, compliance and commitment to all Atlantic 10 Conference, NCAA and institutional rules.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required. College and/or club coaching experience with one to two years preferred. Lifeguarding, CPR, First-Aid, AED and USA Coaching Certification (or willingness to obtain) is required. Strong computer, organizational and interpersonal communication skills are essential. Employment is conditional on the successful completion of a background check.
