Northland College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, Wisconsin, seeks qualified candidates for the Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach position.
The Head Men’s Ice Hockey Coach has the responsibility for the overall operation of the men’s intercollegiate men’s ice hockey program in accordance with Northland College, Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), and National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) regulations. The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a competitive NCAA Division III men’s ice hockey program that emphasizes the educational welfare of its student-athletes. The position has additional duties in the athletic department.
Responsibilities:
Organizes, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics, all aspects of the men’s ice hockey program, including facility, competition, practice schedule and team operations.
Serves as recruiter for the men’s ice hockey program, identifies and evaluates students who are a fit for the institution and organizes their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admission.
Acts as an ambassador of the College and conducts oneself in a positive manner and to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
Works closely with the promotional and fundraising efforts of the athletic department.
Follows all institutional, WIAC and NCAA regulations regarding men’s ice hockey in particular and athletics in general.
Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards where student-athletes are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success.
Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA Division III student-athlete experience.
Builds successful relations with alumni.
In collaboration with facilities and maintenance manage all aspects and upkeep of men’s ice hockey facility (Bay Area Civic Center) and all on-campus athletic facilities.
Communicate professionally and proactively within the college community and beyond.
Schedule contests and work with conference office on scheduling of game officials.
Take the NCAA test on regulations and rules.
Recruit to expected roster size.
Promote and perform fund raising activities including public speaking, and participating in athletics department friend and fundraising events.
Manages budget in collaboration with Athletics Administration.
Annually declare and receive approval from the Director of Athletics and President for all outside income.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Presidents Office.
