The Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) includes two (2) Assistant Director positions one for Parks and one for Recreation, these positions are responsible for the overall operations of the assigned divisions. This position is responsible for management and leadership of the Recreation Divisions including responsibility for programming and operations including staffing, budgeting, strategic planning and serves as the acting director during their absence.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Coaches and develops employees
Recruits for vacant positions
Analyzes and evaluates operational data including financial reports
Directs activities through various Division Directors
Provides support for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures for the operation of the PARD
Assists in the development of strategic plans for parks and recreational facilities
Provides direct administration services for the assigned divisions including coordination with internal City departments
Develops, presents, and administers Parks and Recreation Division budgets
Coordinates with community groups, associations, boards, and foundations
Administers contracts and monitors the performance of projects and contractors
Develops long range Parks and Recreations Department Program
Collaborates with the Communications & Marketing Department to respond to local media requests
Serves as a lead in collaborating with internal City departments on recreation projects
Ensures City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are followed
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or a related field
Five years of experience in parks and recreation operations
Three years of supervisory experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver’s license
CPRP or CPRE certification or ability to obtain within (1) one year of employment
