Central Methodist University (MO) and the Eagle Athletic program has an immediate opening for a transformational leader as the Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach. The Head Golf Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating all aspects of a successful collegiate golf program.
Duties include, but are not limited to recruitment of talented and academically qualified student-athletes, monitoring academic performance and eligibility, and effectively analyzing and teaching the fundamental skills and strategies associated with golf. Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions. Serve as a leader and role model to the student-athletes of the program and Eagle Athletics. Participate in public relation activities, and fundraising initiatives as needed. Oversee administrative and operational details of the program.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direction of all phases of the program (varsity and reserve), including coaching, directing home tournaments including the organization of officials, scorekeepers, statisticians, media, lodging, meals and travel; coordinating the admission of prospective student-athletes; scheduling and budgeting; managing equipment orders and distribution; updating performances with the Heart of America Athletic Conference and NAIA; committing to the academic progress and success of student-athletes; assist with the scouting and recruitment of student-athletes; assist in the coordination of fundraising and special events. Provide excellent customer service to our students, donors, sponsors, alumni and all of our internal and external constituents.
Due to recruiting and overnight travel, applicants must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record; must be able to obtain a State of Missouri vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment and must qualify to operate a vehicle within the CMU guidelines (including obtaining a CDL). Ability to gain and maintain CMU driving approval is required. Must be able to travel for extended periods of time for athletic contests, recruiting activities and athletic fundraising events. This position will oversee two part time assistant coaches or graduate assistants.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master's preferred, with a minimum of 3 years previous golf coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level, including player evaluation and recruiting. Must have excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to instruct and motivate athletes and assistant coaches. Must be able to communicate clearly in writing as well as have highly developed time management skills.
