The Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance directs a service-oriented and comprehensive compliance program to ensure that all athletics programs and institutional support areas and activities comply with NCAA, Conference, and University regulations. The Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance is responsible for the overall quality and comprehensive nature of the program. Works closely with administrators within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR}, coaches and department staff, as well as the office of Athletics Academic Services and the Graduation Unit regarding NCAA compliance issues. The Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance plans, administers, implements, oversees and evaluates all aspects of the compliance program including daily operations, rules education, initial and continuing eligibility, interpretation and application of NCAA legislation, personnel, camps and clinics, financial aid, recruiting, playing and practice seasons and promotional activities. Prepares all NCAA waivers and appeals. Investigates and rep orts all suspected NCAA secondary violations. Coordinates the investigation and reporting of all suspected NCAA major violations in conjunction with the Compliance Committee, Coordinates audits and periodic compliance reviews while operating within the scope and intent of the NCAA, Big West Conference (BWC) and University regulations, may supervise one full-time assistant and/or one part-time assistant. This role will oversee all operations surrounding the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) programming at Cal State Fullerton including, but not limited to, education programming, monitoring, and ensuring adherence to CSUF, state, federal, and NCAA policies. This position will be responsible for advancing CSUF’s NIL efforts to ensure student-athletes, coaches, staff, and prospective students have the tools, education, and resources necessary to maximize opportunities and navigate this new space. Possible sports supervisor duties. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the following public administration, business administration, or a job-related field. Two years of professional experience in one a student services programs, collegiate athletics or a related field. A master’s degree in a job related field may be submitted for one year of professional experience. Extensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with a demonstrated understanding of and adherence to conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Detail and accuracy oriented with excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. Proficiency with computer applications, databases, social networking sites and general office software.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
