Mercer Athletics is looking for a creative and innovative leader to assist the department’s efforts in digital and social media strategy, and content creation through creative video.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and coordination with all Mercer University athletics teams, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing, creating and managing the production of creative assets such as short form video, GIFS, and hype videos to be social media and in-game entertainment.
The candidate will assist efforts on digital and social strategy while working with Media Relations, Video Production, and Marketing staffs on strategic plans for sport-specific social media accounts.
Duties include:
Develop, create and manage the production of creative assets including graphics, GIFs, hype videos, and short form content.
Assist in managing the voice, tone, and messaging on all of the social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, while staying up to date with other emerging platforms.
Assist in delivering strategic messaging and visual communications to the marketing and communications team to promote all 18 Varsity Sports on digital platforms while helping to communicate athletic teams directives to the external staff.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required
Preferred Field of Study: Graphic arts/design, media studies, marketing or related field
Software skills required:
Adobe Creative Suite
Social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
An understanding of intercollegiate athletics
Experience and other skills required:
1-2 years of marketing, promotions, or public relations experience in intercollegiate athletics
Demonstrated graphic design experience
Experience formulating and/or managing social media initiatives
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Other skills preferred:
Experience as a cinematographer, including technical skill with DSLR and cinema cameras
Experience with developing marketing plans
Video production experience
Candidates should be prepared to submit a graphic design portfolio.
