Birmingham-Southern College has an immediate opening for Head Coach, Women's Volleyball. Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the Women’s Head Volleyball Coach shall assume full responsibility for the organization, management and conduct of the Women’s Volleyball program at the Division III level. The program shall be conducted under the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Division III, the Southern Athletic Association and the college. The Head Coach is also responsible for supervising the Assistant Coach. The Head Coach is responsible for teaching, evaluating and refining sport specific skill development for student-athletes; and recruitment of qualified student-athletes within the college and NCAA Division III guidelines.

Bachelor's degree required. College coaching experience preferred.  Head Coaching or Associate Head Coaching preferred.  Ability to lead and mentor student-athletes.  Knowledge of coaching and implementing philosophies in all facets of program.  Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. BSC is a member of the Southern Athletic Association and a member of NCAA Division III.  

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

 

• Direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the Birmingham-Southern College Women’s Volleyball team.
• Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes at Birmingham-Southern.
• Direct the Volleyball staff in preparation and analyses of opponent teams; analyze game statistics tactical data of opponents and prepare game plans accordingly.
• Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters; consult with College administration for resolution of problems as required.
• Assign and supervise the Volleyball staff in the recruitment of new players.
• Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds.
• Direct various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance evaluations and promotions.
• Study, evaluate and implement innovations in Volleyball strategy and equipment.
• Work closely with Sports Medicine for the care and prevention of athletic injuries and performance development.
• Represent Birmingham-Southern College at professional, civic, charity, and alumni events.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities.
