Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at West Virginia Wesleyan College will lead, manage, and direct all facets of a competitive and thriving NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics program. The incumbent will serve as a vital institutional strategic partner and campus operational leader with primary responsibility for the student-athlete experience and the financial stewardship of all resources directed to the athletics programs in alignment with the stated mission and vision of West Virginia Wesleyan College.
As the leader of highly visible and key student developmental activities on campus, the incumbent will exhibit the highest levels of ethical decision-making, responsibility, and integrity. The incumbent’s responsibilities as assigned will be directed (but not limited) to the following areas:
Supervisory: The incumbent will have supervisory oversight (direct and indirect) of all employees within the department of athletics including head/assistant coaches and administrative positions (i.e., Assistant Athletics Director). Supervisory oversight will include evaluation, direction of work responsibilities, and strategic and prioritized direction of work.
Fiscal: The incumbent will be responsible for all financial activities related to intercollegiate athletics including budget planning, revenue generation, and budget expenditure. Specifically, the incumbent in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Enrollment Officer will develop and manage the athletics financial aid program to align with institutional aid, recruitment, and budgetary goals.
Development: In partnership with institutional fundraising objectives, the incumbent will assist in the planning and supervision of fundraising activities related to intercollegiate athletics. The incumbent will manage a portfolio of active and potential donors/partners to advance fundraising goals as determined by the President and Executive Team of the institution.
Operational: The incumbent will monitor and direct the general operations of the athletics department including policy development, facility management, home game operations, conference and NCAA guidelines/compliance, and athletics support activities including athletic training, sports information, and strength and conditioning.

Master’s degree with significant experience in intercollegiate athletics, higher education, and/or student affairs/activities preferred. Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience outside of higher education will be considered.
