POSITION SUMMARY The Head Women’s Volleyball Coach is responsible for oversight of the Intercollegiate Women’s Volleyball Program at the institution. Duties include demonstrating effective coaching skills and instructing student athletes on the rules and fundamentals of the sport during practice (both in team and individual settings) and in competition. The Head Coach is responsible for supporting the academic and spiritual development of each student athlete. The employee will also engage in other secondary duties as described below.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Game day strategy and coaching, making in-game adjustments. 2.Plan and execute practices and training programs for both the individual player and the team. Film breakdown, including goals and expectations for both the individual player and the team. 3.Specific position/individual athlete instruction. 4.Promote the academic development of each student athlete and a team culture of academic excellence. 5.Promote the spiritual development of each student athlete and a team culture where the Catholic faith and Christian moral principles are integrated into the daily activities and program. 6.Educate and comply with all relevant NCAA and PAC conference rules and regulations. 7.Coordinate with other Athletics staff members and other university departments on logistical issues such as contest scheduling, team travel, field/venue scheduling/maintenance, and game day preparation. 8.Communicate with prospective student athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations; coordinate all recruitment activities with the Athletic recruiting coordinator and the Admissions office.

REQUIREMENTS Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:
Work Experience • 2-3 years of Head Coaching experience / former college volleyball playing experience. • Knowledge of D3, PAC and NCAA rules. • Collegiate volleyball coaching and/or playing experience preferred. • Recruiting experience and/or knowledge of recruiting of prospective students preferred.

Uses effective speaking and listening techniques to ensure clear and actionable communications. • Developing Self: Continually assesses own skills and identifies areas that can be further improved. • Decision Quality: Effectively blends analysis, experience, and intuition in the decision-making process. • Dealing with Ambiguity: Works well in situations where there is no single right answer.
Education • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. • CPR and First Aid Certification.
Technical Skills • Ability to demonstrate coaching skill. • Knowledge of collegiate level coaching tactics in the development of the student athlete. • Implementation of daily practice and game day plans and adjustments.
Workplace Factors • Must demonstrate an understanding of basic set up and tear down of the equipment to keep track of inventory. • Must be able to schedule matches in a timely manner to be able to report game scores and statistics after games. • Must be able to handle travel arrangements and to drive a 12-passenger van.
