Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach The Head Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach oversees the administration and management of the Women’s Swimming and Diving Program. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to the Augustana Athletics philosophy; to provide a student-athlete centered experience committed to distinction in the classroom, excellence in the community, and faithful service to community.
Duties include, but are not limited to: •Responsible for the development and implementation of the NCAA DII Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Program. •Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of a successful recruitment program of prospective student-athletes. •In charge of facilitating an atmosphere conducive to the continued academic and athletic success of student-athletes, and for monitoring the academic programs of team members. •Oversee and plan all team practices and games aimed at developing and preparing the team for successful competition. •Manage all team related administrative tasks, organizing and administering tournaments or events, and making travel/lodging arrangements. •Required to fulfill a variety of obligations to the conference and organization to which the sport is a member. This may include attending meetings and serving on committees. •Advise the Director of Athletics and/or designee on budgetary needs and manage team budget •Responsible for fundraising to support the program, the athletics department, and university (i.e. camps, clinics). •Develop and maintain positive alumni and community relations. •Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with athletics, university staff, students, and all constituencies and stakeholders. •Support, abide and enforce all academic guidelines and policies of the university, athletics department to insure academic progress of the student-athlete. •Support and work cooperatively with the Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, NCAA Compliance, Sports Communications etc. areas in accordance with department policies and procedures. •Abide and adhere to all written policies, procedures, and guidelines of Augustana University and the Department of Athletics. •Represent the institution and the department in a positive and professional manner. •Successfully pass the NCAA Coaches Curriculum Required Courses. •Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the position Director of Athletics and/or designee. •Other duties as assigned to help build the brand and promote Augustana Athletics.
Desired Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree required. •Preference will be given to those with experience specific to coaching men’s and women’s swimming and diving. •Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations. •Must be able to work varying hours which may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications: •Previous coaching experience in a collegiate level program preferred as an Assistant or Head Coach. •Minimum three years coaching experience in the sport of men’s and women’s swimming and diving. •Experience in recruiting academically sound, qualified student athletes.
