DIRECTOR OF COMPLIANCE SERVICES [Admin Program Support 4]
JOB SUMMARY
The University of Connecticut is accepting applications and nominations for the position of Director of Compliance Services. This individual will report directly to the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: serve as main compliance office contact for select varsity sports; serve as a resource for student-athletes, coaches, staff members and the university community regarding NCAA Bylaws, provide interpretations related to all NCAA bylaws as applicable for specific constituencies and select varsity sports; submit NCAA and conference waivers, reinstatement cases; investigate potential NCAA violations, and report as necessary through the NCAA Applications Portal for select varsity sports; assist in developing and conducting a comprehensive rules education program for coaches, staff, student-athletes, and other constituencies; oversee and assist in all aspects of student-athlete eligibility (initial-eligibility, continuing eligibility, and transfer eligibility); serve as main point of contact for notification of transfer and transfer portal; serve as main liaison to Admissions and Registrar’s Office; assist with (and oversee within time) NCAA academic reporting, including, Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR); provide game day support for various sporting events, including review of complimentary admissions; and perform other related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance Services, including but not limited to other aspects of monitoring and processing certain NCAA Bylaws.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management or a related field; at least four years of NCAA rules compliance experience (within the past seven years) from an NCAA Divisional member compliance office, a collegiate athletic conference and/or the NCAA, including demonstrated experience with the NCAA Applications Portal; comprehensive knowledge of NCAA compliance and proven ability to appropriately apply rules while assisting coaches and staff in achieving objectives; demonstrated ability to produce reliable results, regularly exercise good judgment, and solve problems; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
J.D. or Master’s degree in Sport Management or a related field; prior NCAA compliance experience with a Division I institution; prior experience with assisting/working with initial, continuing, and transfer eligibility; the submission of NCAA and conference waivers and student-athlete reinstatement requests; prior experience with a recruiting software system.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time position. The University offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
