Baldwin Wallace University invites applications for the position of Head Women’s Wrestling Coach. Women's Wrestling will be the 28th varsity sport and will begin team competition in 2024-2025. The new coach will begin work directly with the Men's Wrestling Staff to ensure cohesion amongst the two teams while recruiting the inaugural wrestling class.
BW has a rich athletic tradition and has had a very successful Men’s Wrestling Program including six of the last seven Ohio Athletic Conference Championships and one 2022 National Champion. BW is a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III. The athletic department supports the University mission by assisting students in their preparation toward becoming contributing, compassionate citizens in an increasingly global society. The Coach is under the supervision of the Director of Wrestling Operations and Director of Athletics. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Essential Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities: The following outlines the essential functions of the position and is not to be considered a detailed description of all duties inherent in the position.
Manage, coordinate, and develop all aspects of a successful women’s wrestling program including but not limited to:
Recruiting and retaining student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, OAC and institutional rules, regulations and guidelines.
Organizing, preparing and executing effective practice, strength training and meet strategies. Coordinate, host and manage BW, OAC and potentially NCAA national meets.
Monitoring and nurturing student-athletes’ academic and personal progress.
Managing successfully the daily operations of the track program: assisting with budget preparation and management, scheduling, travel arrangements, and meet day organization while maintaining compliance with NCAA, OAC and BW rules and regulations.
Assisting with fundraising, alumni activities and public relations as needed.
Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Fostering a cooperative work environment and providing mutual support with all constituencies and colleagues.
Representing the program and Baldwin Wallace University with sportsmanship, integrity and professionalism.
Successful coaching and recruiting experience preferred. Experience as a collegiate or higher level athlete can be substituted for coaching experience.
Proficient with technology applications applicable to the position including. (Teamworks, and Front Rush software is currently utilized within department)
Demonstrated organizational and management ability
Strong ethical character and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of NCAA D-III rules and regulations
Appreciation for and understanding of NCAA D-III athletic philosophy
Possess a strong commitment to diversity and inclusiveness
Must be able to travel, maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to secure and maintain certification to drive university vehicles
