Reporting to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Head Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for all phases of the men’s basketball program. This includes, but is not limited to, the planning, development, and implementation of activities in the following areas: planning and supervision of team practices and contests; management of budget; control of equipment and supplies; and recruiting, retention, and advisement of student athletes. The Head Coach is accountable for modeling a professional demeanor as is inherent in higher education and athletics as well as for mentoring student-athletes. This position is responsible for ensuring that all basketball related activities support the mission of the University and are in compliance with all University, University System, Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), and NCAA rules and policies.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University and 5-7 years of relative coaching experience at a NCAA, CAA, or professional basketball league equivalent preferred. Working knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations
Ability to lead and manage others successfully.
Demonstrated capacity for integrity, honesty, and principled behavior.

Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Schedule flexibility for weekend hours and travel. Comfortable with using and managing electronic mail.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred with 7+ years of coaching experience including experience as head coach in a college/university setting.
