The University of California, Los Angeles is accepting applications for the position of Director of Operations, Women’s Beach and Indoor Volleyball. This is a contract, full-time position with a targeted salary of $50,000.00/year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Under the direct supervision of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) Head Women’s Beach Volleyball and Indoor Coaches, manage the administration of the Women’s Beach and Indoor Volleyball programs and take care of any and all tasks as deemed necessary by the respective Head Coaches and their staffs. These include, but are not limited to: oversight of day-to-day operations and administration; acting as program liaison to alumni, parents, and other departments, such as athletic communications, marketing, and recruiting; assisting with game-day operations and travel management; working with coaches and equipment manager to organize team apparel and uniforms; coordinating and maintaining annual budget; and helping to facilitate logistics, hiring, and general management for summer camp; working with athletic communications, the recruiting department, and managers to continually evolve team social media accounts. Requires traveling with team and attending home games and, hence, evenings and weekend hours are required. In addition, develop proposals for facilities upgrades as requested by the Head Coaches, submit and maintain budgets, and coordinate with DIA business & finance for approvals.

All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities/qualifications: Ability to exercise sound judgment to handle sensitive and confidential information/material with discretion; Ability to interact diplomatically with individuals of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds; Superior public relations skills, including outstanding interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships and correspondence with staff, faculty, media, recruits, visiting coaches, donors, parents and Conference/NCAA officials; Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments and work independently to complete assignments despite various deadlines, competing requirements and changing priorities; Demonstrate administrative skills including coordination of travel arrangements; Ability to perform well with competing priorities and maintain composure in the face of resistance, indifference or hostility; Ability to organize and maintain a calendar system; Working knowledge of contracts and demonstrated budgetary skills; Working knowledge of University purchasing and accounting policies and procedures; Demonstrate computer skills to complete assignments with speed and accuracy. Working knowledge of computer software systems include; Microsoft Office, Teamworks, University Athlete, and Jump Forward; Demonstrate comprehensive social media skills including, but not limited to basic photography, simple video editing, and Photoshop; Knowledge of University policies and procedures; Knowledge of Conference and NCAA rules and regulations required; Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
