MetLife Stadium, home to the New York Giants and New York Jets is seeking to add a Sport Field Manager to our Team! This is an exempt level position, reporting to the Sr. Director, Facility Operations and Events. Salary is commensurate with experience. Below is an outline of the job requirements:
Summary: Performs all functions associated with the playing field and grounds located here within MetLife Stadium. In addition, assists the Operations Department in Maintenance, Event Operations, Snow Removal, and other tasks as necessary
Supervisory Responsibility: This position is responsible for the supervision of Local 472 Laborers, Local 711 Painters, Local 560 Teamsters, and Local 825 Operating Engineers
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Responsible for helping keep the building clean, well maintained and providing our guests with the best possible entertainment experience; •Responsible for providing high level of customer service to both NFL teams, maintaining absolute neutrality on all team issues and protecting confidentiality of each teams’ information; •Communicates effectively (oral and in writing) with senior management •Experience with sports field operations at professional or collegiate venue •Experience with supervising union trades
Field Operations: •Sets up the playing field and organizes / assists the Sr. Director of Facility Operations and Events in the scheduling of labor for all events including NFL Games, Soccer, Concerts, Motorsports, College Football, Special Events, etc •Provide and maintain all field equipment as requested by the NY Giants, NY Jets and all others as it relates to warm weather and cold weather events (heated benches, metal benches, heaters, coolers, etc) •Maintains warehouse and all field maintenance storage spaces within MLS neat, clean, and organized
Synthetic Turf: •Responsible for synthetic turf installations, e-layer, maintenance, upkeep, and removal •Responsible for supervision of synthetic turf changeover process which includes painting and removing the field on a weekly basis and on overnights between back to back games •Responsible for all painting equipment including painting machines, painting accessories, stencils, and paint removal machines •Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the field heating system. •Performs all maintenance including cleaning, grooming, and spraying of the field with necessary equipment •Prepares field for all NFL Games, Collegiate Football Games, and any other sporting event played on synthetic turf •Responsible for tarping the field during the NFL season when there is adverse weather •Performs G-Max and Infill testing weekly during the NFL season, prepares reports, and submit to both teams and the NFL. oEnsures that the field falls within the predetermined acceptable range that the NFL requires for a safe playing field. Will make adjustments to the field to ensure acceptable range if it not compliant •Coordinates 3rd party field testing multiple times during the year •Coordinates annual field testing log and distributes to teams •Coordinates annual field drainage testing
Natural Grass for International Soccer Matches: •Familiar with natural grass as it relates to specific types, ordering, costs, installation, and removal •Familiar with natural grass maintenance such as cutting, rolling, watering, striping, painting, and upkeep •Familiar with geo-textile and flooring in regards to synthetic turf protection •Prepares natural grass field for all international soccer matches including goals, corner flags, benches, etc
MetLife Stadium Events: •Act as a supervisor for load in and load out of concerts and other MLS shows when required •Supervise the installation of the Matrax Flooring system for MLS shows, making sure that it goes down in a correct and timely manner •Responsible for specific MLS setups for concerts and shows in regards to ingress, egress, wayfinding, etc
Misc: •Work with the Manager of Facility Events and Operations to ensure that all field requests are completed in the correct manner •Responsible for ordering all field related equipment including paint, football accessories, and soccer accessories •Manages the budget for field related items and makes sure that all invoices are paid through our image now system •Responsible for the removal and re-installation of tunnel seating, soccer infill seating, and ADA seating for appropriate events •Responsible for reporting all field related equipment repair to Sr. Coordinator Site Operations
Plaza Grounds: •Responsible for upkeep of MetLife 50 and PPK field •Responsible for maintenance of plaza planter beds and trees including mulching, weeding, annual flower planting, pruning, adding stonedust etc •Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of irrigation system for plaza planter beds and trees including winterization
Snow Removal / Risk Management: •Works with the Director of Facility Operations and Events, and Manager of Facility Operations and Events as it relates to the snow removal effort on the Field, and Plaza •Directly responsible for the playing field during adverse weather conditions •Organizes snow removal work crews on field for removing snow from field level •Responsible for adverse weather warnings for high winds. Prepares and advises the building accordingly •Responsible for risk management / safety inspections within MetLife Stadium plaza
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee should also have the following qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
College degree preferred
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Minimum 3- 5 years of related experience preferably in a large public facility, arena, stadium, complex, etc
Ability to operate field related equipment
Physical Demands:
Ability to kneel, crawl, squat, stoop, stand, walk, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms
Ability to lift and / or move up to 80 pounds
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however during events noise level may be loud
Must be able to work irregular hours including days, evenings, nights, overnights, weekends, holidays , etc
