Florida International University in Miami is seeking applications for an Assistant Strength Condition Coach. FIU is a member of Conference USA and offers eighteen (17) NCAA Division I sports programs. The successful candidate will enhances the physical and mental development of student-athletes through the establishment of specific training programs and activities to increase the performance of student-athletes. Duties include:
•Enhances the physical and mental development of student-athletes through the establishment of specific training programs and activities to increase the performance of student-athletes in both practice and competition. Assists to ensure proper techniques and designs training strategies for both injury avoidance and improved performance.
•Creates and implements sports specific programs that intensify the physical strength, speed and cardiovascular conditioning of the student-athlete. •Instructs, educates and supervises all student athletes regarding proper weight training techniques.
•Assists with the general operation and maintenance of the Athletics' weight room, along with enforcing safety procedures.
•Attends athletic events as requested and when feasible.
•Assists with developing and coordinating the schedules of student-athletes while in the weight room.
•Consults with athletic training staff to determine the participation status of injured student-athletes and works with the athletic training staff to enhance the rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
•Monitors the progress of each student-athlete through verifiable records and maintains written documentations regarding status.
•Assists with developing and implementing policies affecting the strength and conditioning program.
•Maintains communication with departmental staff, coaches and medical staff.
•Uses vehicles to transport students and recruits as requested.
•Maintains confidentiality for the department. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity any matter pertaining to medical, academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic Department
•Adheres to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Co-Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Report any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.
Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of relevant experience.
In addition, must possess one of the following National Strength and Conditioning Certifications:
Certified Strength and Conditioning Certificate (CSCS) or
Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) or
