Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations is a member of the division’s Senior Leadership Team, manages all aspects of internal operations/ functions, and oversees the student-athlete experience.
Works with the Director of Athletics to manage day-to-day internal operations for the Athletics Division and assists with all business management, administrative and supervisory activities/ functions, including personnel administration, facility management, event management, scheduling and support for community engagement.
Develops, implements and recommends internal controls and procedures to enhance overall administrative efficiency within Athletics.
Serves as the division’s administrative representative at various post-season conference and NCAA championships. Serves on university- wide committees and conference committees.
Assists in oversight of the Real Response platform, administration of student-athlete exit interviews, and the review of grievances by student-athletes and parents.
Represents Winthrop Athletics as the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee (ADID) within the NCAA and Big South Conference.
Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates one administrative specialist and one administrative assistant. Handles all position and salary requests, employment paperwork, and onboarding and offboarding and serves as the division’s liaison to the division of Human Resources, Employee Diversity & Wellness. Provides general oversight of various sport programs, coaches and student athletes, as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Produces, reviews, sends and maintains all athletic contest contracts (home and away).
Serves as secondary administrator contact for all game operations and facilities usage, including campus events, outside rentals and summer camps.
Serves as primary contact for apparel contract, including fulfillment, tracking and communication.
Serves as name, image and likeness coordinator, including tracking and communication.
Assists in preparing and submitting annual reports.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree and professional experience that includes human resources functions and facilities and contract management, preferably in intercollegiate athletics or professional or amateur sports. Experience with branding helpful.
