Position Description:
This position will be responsible for management of assigned home athletic sporting events with supervision of event staff, game officials, and support personnel to ensure the event is run in accordance with SEC and NCAA regulations. Position will also oversee fan and guest services for athletics event management department. Position will be responsible for scheduling student game day and event workers for all home athletic events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Primary Event Manager for home Soccer matches & tournaments. Individual is responsible for the planning & execution including scheduling necessary event-related personnel such as officials, table/timing crew, public address announcers, event staff, security, volunteers, and medical. This individual will work closely with each team’s coaching staff and the facility staff to ensure all events are organized in compliance with SEC/NCAA guidelines and serves as the main point of contact for visiting teams. Individual acts as the lead tournament manager for assigned SEC & NCAA championships.

• Assists in Football & Basketball Event Management. Individual will aid in the scheduling & organizing of necessary event-related personnel including event staff, security, scoreboard operators, video review technicians, ball people, etc. Individual will assist in the supervision and payroll management of certain groups will include but are not limited to event staff, medics, unarmed security, etc. Knowledge of SEC/NCAA guidelines as it pertains to the events being supervised is essential to success.
• Oversee Fan/Guest services for athletics event management department. Individual serves as the point of contact for all external communication and customer service. This person provides oversight, hiring, and scheduling of student workers for event management game day staffing.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required (preferred in Sports Management); Master’s Degree in Sports Management is preferred.
Experience: Experience in event management operations for a NCAA or professional sport setting. 1-2 years experience in event management operations for a NCAA Division I or professional sport setting is preferred. Experience with Soccer and other event game management at a Division I level preferred.
Skills:
• Ability to lead and communicate effectively with internal units, campus departments, and external representatives.
• Knowledge of NCAA and SEC guidelines as they pertain to collegiate athletic events.
• Knowledge of basic University guidelines and policies in relation to monetary transactions.
• Ability to manage a staff of up to 30 people in a professional and organized manner.
• Ability to multi-task and complete various on-going projects within a typical workday.
• Skills to use computer software, in particular Microsoft Software Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook), as well as Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat.
