About the University of North Carolina Wilmington
The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), formerly known as Wilmington College, was founded in 1947 by local leaders and citizens dedicated to providing higher educational opportunities to students in southeastern North Carolina, notably veterans returning home from World War II.
