Job Summary: Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all activities related to the Hilbert College football program. These areas include but are not limited to planning and supervising of practices, games, management of budget, control of equipment and supplies, advisement of student-athletes, recruiting potential student-athletes, scouting opponents, and organization and implementation of program development activities. Work with admissions and athletic recruiting coordinator to meet roster goals, and field a competitive team. Oversee all game coaching and practice sessions with the aid of assistant coaches. Supervisor to full-time and part-time football assistant coaches. Conduct team try-outs, plan, and schedule regular practice sessions, including spring and pre-season practices. Abide by NCAA and Empire 8 rules and regulations. Coordinate an effective in and out-of-season student-athlete conditioning program, in conjunction with strength and conditioning coach. Provide input on scheduling and monitor the team budget, implement beneficial team fundraising projects. Plan and closely supervise all team travel. Develop and maintain good communication with team members; utilize effective motivational strategies. Cultivate good rapport with other campus and athletic services. Develop an effective working relationship with the media, officials, opponents, booster club and alumni. Attend conference wide meetings, clinics, and workshops. Conduct camps and clinics to help promote the program within the Western New York Community. Maintain a strong working knowledge of Hilbert College Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and practices. Oversee assigned secondary responsibility within athletic department.
Knowledge of NCAA and local conference rules and regulations, basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer), strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work independently as well as being able to supervise others, able to lift and carry heavy items (up to approximately 25 lbs), willingness to work nights and weekends, strong organizational skills. Playing and coaching experience, preferably at the college level. Bachelor’s degree preferred, along with valid driver license.
