The Director of Sports Technology is responsible for the overall strategy of technological advancement for the benefit of the athletics staff, student-athletes, and fans. This position is end-user facing and requires an in-depth knowledge of a variety of sport and venue technologies and traditional IT practices. The director will provide preventative and responsive solutions with a forward-thinking vision for the application of technology within University of Arkansas Athletics. The position encompasses a range of support activities with a particular focus on delivering a high level of professionalism and service as well as coordinating the activities of the technology support staff. The position will require working athletic events which can be after hours and on the weekends.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Systems Management, or related field
At least five years of supervisory or leadership experience successfully managing a group or division in a technology related field
Five years of technology services experience including, but not limited to, Audio Video Systems, Building Automation, Traditional IT, Digital Signage, Scoring Systems, and other services found in the collegiate athletics technology field
Professional experience within the collegiate or professional athletics setting
Experience in overall traditional IT support including the installation and service for department computers, networks, server systems, storage, and cloud solutions
Experience with various AV systems, video boards, coaching solutions, digital signage solutions, and other sports related technologies
Familiarity of Building Automation, Card Access, and Security Camera Systems
Experience with PCI compliance and other cyber security best practices
Certifications and Advancement of skillsets within various technological specialties (Cisco, Microsoft, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of NCAA, SEC and University policies and procedures

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
