Morgan State University (MSU) is seeking applicants for the position of NCAA Eligibility Specialist. This position is housed within the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMASS). The Eligibility Specialist is the designated point of contact with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to assist the various Enrollment Management departments with key functions related to the eligibility certification of student-athletes and financial aid review. MSU is a NCAA Division I-FCS institution with 14 sports and approximately 300 student-athletes and the athletics programs compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
The Eligibility Specialist's primary responsibilities include assisting with the eligibility certification for student-athletes, maintaining records of academic progress through the NCAA Compliance Assistant (CA) software program, ensuring timely processing of transfer transcript evaluations, ensuring change of major or other academic requests are processed accurately; assisting with the completion of transfer student-athlete requests as applicable. The incumbent will assist with the review of student-athlete financial aid awards for compliance with individual and team limitations, in compliance with NCAA and Morgan State University guidelines, including meeting with the Office of Financial Aid on a monthly basis to review adjustments/changes to student-athlete financial aid packages during the academic year. Performs other duties as assigned.
Individuals interested in this position must be self-motivated and be able to work a flexible schedule. This position requires non-traditional hours and some travel is required. The individual must adhere to State of Maryland, Morgan State University, NCAA and MEAC rules, regulations and policies.
Requested Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Two (2) or more years of experience in an athletics academic support program, athletics compliance office or Registrar's office is required.
Candidate must have knowledge of NCAA Bylaws 14 &15
Familiarity with Intercollegiate Athletics is required
Candidate must have experience working with NCAA Eligibility Rules and Regulations as well as Financial Aid Scholarship Limitations
Other Preferences for Consideration
Preferred Qualifications: A Master's Degree with three or more years experience as an Athletics or University Academic coordinator, athletics compliance administrator or previous experience as an NCAA Eligibility Specialist.
