Xavier University is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director for Basketball Creative Video. The Xavier University Department of Athletics sponsors 19 sports programs with more than 330 student-athletes, and is a member of the Big East Conference. This position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement and is responsible for leading video content ideation and creation for Men’s & Women’s Basketball. The Assistant Director for Basketball Creative Video will be asked to develop creative workflows, manage a queue of requested work, conceptualize individual work, as well as act as a leader and mentor to creative media interns or graduate assistants to help them further develop their skills.
This position will:
Work collaboratively with the Communications, Marketing, coaching staffs, and outside vendors on video needs for respective sports. Attend various sporting and athletic events to shoot video for production of content for public consumption. Create compelling short- and long-form content for men’s basketball platforms. Includes shooting practice, all home and road games as well as some off-campus activities. Create compelling videos that tell Xavier stories that strengthen Xavier’s brand loyalty, while enhancing the overall fan experience and engagement. Manage content and plan specific, timely posts. Create a weekly/monthly editorial video calendar based on the content goals, including athletic contests and special events (XSPYs, Hall of Fame, All For One Fund functions, etc.) Recruit, train and supervise graduate assistant and student workers to support the video and multimedia content goals for Xavier Athletics and all sports. Manage studio equipment, scheduling, and appearances. Manage the historical video archives for Xavier Athletics for all 19 intercollegiate sports in in partnership with Athletics’ Technical Services. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in digital media, film, communications or related field is required with 2 years of video-related experience in intercollegiate athletics or professional sports is preferred.

Have the ability to multi-task and coordinate solutions for complex needs while maintaining attention to detail, remain efficient under pressure, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Have demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including but not limited to Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Lightroom and Photoshop. Have extensive knowledge of a full range of production techniques including graphics, photography, lighting, shooting, video equipment and operation, editing and post-production work. Have comprehensive experience and capability to produce creative and captivating video content for various social and digital platforms. Successfully train, manage and supervise personnel including intern or student staff to accomplish goals. This role will require a flexible schedule and must be able to work nights and weekends.
