Two new positions have been created as we transitioned from Graduate Assistant positions to Full-Time. Open coverages include but not limited to M Rugby, Volleyball, Cheer and Track & Field. The expectation is full practice/games and travel with the primary sport assignment with only home coverage of a spring sport, TBD.

Sign-on Bonus; $2000, preferred latest start by October.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Abide by the Athletic Department Policy and Procedures and the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) standards and practices for Life’s athletes.
2. Provide coverage for home and away games and practices as assigned.
3. Supervise and maintain the athletic training room when the Director of Athletic Health Care is not present to meet the needs of the student-athletes.
4. Serve as a liaison between the student-athlete, his/her parents when requested or under 18, the coach, and the medical community in matters relative to the prevention, care, and management of athletic related injuries and illnesses.
5. Assist the visiting athletic teams with the necessary athletic training and medical needs. Special event coverage such as playoff or champion for any sport covered by Athletic Care may be required.
6. Plan, implement, and monitor the rehabilitation of injured student-athletes.
7. Maintain the privacy of an athlete’s health information and explain how, when and why we would disclose an athlete’s protected health information.
8. Attend on-campus athletic training clinics with the team physician when permissible.
9. Maintain a file on the medical history of all student-athletes, which include a formal medical history form, warning letters, emergency medical information, daily injury reports, daily treatment records, progress reports, physician referrals, release records, physician notes, operative notes, and rehabilitative notes.
10. Maintain an awareness of each student-athletes’ insurance coverage and to make sure proper protocol and procedures are followed to ensure payment by the insurance company.
11. Submit injury claims and processing of all insurance forms for medical fees and charges concerning sports-related injuries to the student-athletes for your assigned teams.
12. Keep the Director of Athletic Health Care aware of equipment and supply needs ahead of time.
13. Provide advice and counsel student-athletes regarding the emergency treatments required for non-athletic/athletic injuries and illnesses.
14. Make decisions relative to the participation of student-athletes in practices and competitions based on his/her examination of the injury/illness, information from the physician, sports chiropractors, and other pertinent information relative to the injury/illness.
15. Maintain current national and state licensure and certification requirements.
16. Maintain knowledge of contemporary athletic training issues by participating in continuing education activities to provide an appropriate standard of care.

    Education, Training and/or Experience

    Preferred: Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or other related discipline.
    A Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
    Current Professional Rescuer CPR and First Aid Certification.
    Ability to act independently and make decisions under all circumstances.
    Excellent communication skills.
    Positive attitude/behavior.
    A license to practice athletic training in the state of Georgia, or the attainment of such license within 30 days of acceptance of employment.

    Working Conditions

    Work performed in a general clinic environment. 
    Work performed in various locations in and around the Life University campus, including athletic fields and gymnasiums. 
    Flexibility to accommodate schedules of athletic events.
    This job does require travel as required under Essential Job Functions.
