UC San Diego, located in La Jolla, in the San Diego Metropolitan area, enrolls over 35,000 students and is one of the University of California’s 10 campuses. UC San Diego Athletics sponsors a broad based program of 23 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sports, with approximately 600 student-athletes. UC San Diego has begun the journey to reclassifying to NCAA Division I and the Big West Conference. The Tritons will begin playing a full schedule in the Big West in the fall of 2020, spend four years in a reclassification period, and then have full-fledged NCAA Division I status in the fall of 2024.
