Lafayette College, located in Easton, PA, is a highly selective private undergraduate college with academic programs and opportunities characteristic of larger institutions. The College is approximately 70 miles from both New York City and Philadelphia.
We are currently seeking Assistant Coach (First Assistant) to assist the Head Coach in the planning, management, and evaluation of all aspects of the volleyball program. Successful candidate will be asked to teach, train and coach all team members, and play an integral role in the recruitment and coaching, video breakdown and film, as well as all other duties listed below. He/she must abide by the rules and regulations established by Lafayette College, the Patriot League and the NCAA.
Responsibilities include:

Assisting Head Coach in managing and directing the volleyball program

Assisting the Head Coach with all aspects of the team including training, competing, and scheduling
-
Attending all practices and conditioning activities throughout the year
-
Verifying travel arrangements one week prior to travel (bus, hotel, food)
-
Ensuring adherence to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the College, the Patriot League and the NCAA with the utmost integrity

Completing assigned administrative duties in a timely manner
-
Assisting with recruiting, including calling prospective student-athletes, evaluating prospects as necessary, and maintaining accurate records in our recruiting database
-
Coordinating recruiting efforts to attract quality student-athletes to Lafayette who meet the admissions requirements and who have the potential to improve our program
-
Working cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, as well as attending departmental meetings and activities
-
Handling all film breakdown with team regularly throughout the season and in the spring as needed
-
Must pass the NCAA Division I Compliance test annually
-
Representing the College in a positive manner when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and the public.
Additional Responsibilities:

Attending professional development opportunities as they become available
-
Confirming set up of gym two hours prior to all home events
-
Scoreboard, lights, microphone, court set up, balls, locker rooms
-
Coordinating facility needs of visiting team
-
Working to market program and camps and clinics throughout the year
-
Assisting with fundraising activities
-
Must be able to run a practice and participate in practice as needed

Performing other duties as requested

Ability to build positive relationships with our student-athletes and mentor our athletes on personal and academic matters

Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the College, the Patriot League and the NCAA

A proven record in following directives and being responsible for tasks which have been assigned

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies

Ability to apply budgeting and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints

Ability to stay abreast of current and developing trends (video, voice, data, and computing technologies)

Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with student-athletes, faculty, staff and the community

Ability to communicate effectively – orally, by phone, in person and in writing

Ability to represent the Department of Athletics and the College in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner

Ability to show enthusiasm and thrive in an environment filled with challenges and constant change

Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner

Ability to use a personal computer and handle technical needs of a program.
