Graduate Assistant Positions in Athletics Communication Department
McNeese State University seeks two (2) Graduate Assistants in Athletics Communications for a two-year appointment starting August 1 and ending at the conclusion of the spring sport season.
One GA spot will be the primary Communications Director for the championship Cowgirl softball program which played in the NCAA Regional finals this past season in Evanston, Illinois, defeating the University of Notre Dame twice to reach that point. The other will be the primary Communications Director for the championship baseball program which won its third consecutive conference title this past spring and has played in the NCAA Regionals in two of the last three seasons. Each appointment will also be assigned a fall sport as its primary contact – women’s soccer or volleyball, as well as assisting with other sports as needed.
The individual hired will be able to demonstrate quality experience and skills in all areas of intercollegiate communications work, including news releases, game coverage and feature writing, editing, interviewing, media and public relations, statistics, video editing, record maintenance, computer operations, publication design and production, web site updates, and general office duties. There will be heavy emphasis on Adobe Design Standard CS applications, particularly PhotoShop and InDesign in addition to statistical programs such as NCAA Live Stats and StatCrew, and Sidearm web content management system.
