Basic Function: Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this tole supports oversight of department operations, coordinating various administrative functions to include hiring, evaluating, and supervision of personnel; SCIAC and NCAA compliance; budget management; sport oversight; diversity, sustaining equity and inclusion initiatives; academic success; evaluating systems and procedures; representing the department on committees and at various events; and supporting a team philosophy in the department. The position is partially funded through the NCAA Strategic Alliance Grant intended to enhance mid-to senior-level intercollegiate ethnic minority and gender representation.
Representative Duties: Management
Implement programming that assists the improvement of departmental culture, with emphasis on initiatives that support diversity, equity, and inclusion. E
Evaluate Department systems and procedures. E
Administer Hiring Initiatives. E
Assist in the coordination and implementation of department operations. E
Evaluate department policies and procedures and implement operational efficiencies. E
Provide Fundraising Operational Support. E
Manage Cal Lutheran Scholar Athlete awards program. E
Student Success, Diversity and Inclusion
Monitor Athlete Academic Progress. E
Lead student success, health, and well-being initiatives supporting athletes. E
Development and implementation of sustained diversity, equity, and Inclusion support. E
Recommend resources necessary to support DEI programming goals. E
Compliance and Governance
Provide oversight and enforcement of athlete eligibility, compliance rules education, and legislation. E
Conduct compliance and eligibility oversight for the department. E
Develop educational compliance communications for athletics staff and campus constituents. E
NCAA and SCIAC philosophy, rules, and regulations.
General knowledge of all areas related to intercollegiate (and recreational) athletics.
Microsoft Office Suite – including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
FERPA laws and regulations
Staff management experience
Understand, accurately interpret and apply conference and institutional rules and regulations
Make decisions skillfully including creative resourcefulness, common sense, sensitivity, a global perspective and timeliness
Interact well with colleagues advising on activities, acting independently when appropriate and beneficial, and problem solving
Submit information requested from a wide variety of constituencies accurately and on time
Employ appropriate supervisory skills with professional and support staff, student workers and other institutional staff

Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree and 5 years sport management experience. Previous experience with NCAA rules compliance, preferably on a DIII level. General intercollegiate athletic experience.
