About the Position:
The Assistant Director of MustangVision Productions will be responsible to assist the Director of MustangVision with the management, vision and growth of the department’s video production services.
Essential Functions:
Assist with in-game production/presentation planning. Assist with the coordination of all game presentation elements, including in-game production of videoboard elements. Assist with recruiting and training student workers in production techniques. Assist with the coordination with network broadcasts on site. Assist local television stations with video highlights of SMU events.
In-game production/presentation implementation. Producing and editing video content for distribution through multiple platforms, including broadcasts, in-venue videoboards, website and other digital media. Assist with the department’s internet streaming operations, including premium content, on the department’s website (SMUMustangs.com). Managing the department’s YouTube channel.
Work with all departments to showcase student-athlete accomplishments through high-quality recruiting videos, commercial spots, special event presentations, development videos and more. Creating motion graphics for in-venue videoboards & ribbon boards. Promote and advance the Mustang brand through cohesive and consistent video.
Operations of video board and sound equipment. Operation and maintenance of all equipment including purchase and repair. Maintaining the archiving system for athletics highlights and keeping it up to date.
Various SMU Athletics projects.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Position will have events that require working on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Positon will require occasional travel with teams for competition.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s is preferred. Degree in broadcast, journalism, communications, or a related field is a plus.
A minimum of three years of experience with live video production, video editing, or video board operations is required.
Prior experience working with a NCAA Division I athletic program, professional sports team or large-market or national television networks preferred. Experience with ESPN+ operations is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Candidate must have strong knowledge of video technology and production equipment required to support all forms of video production services. Must also be an experienced user of professional DSLR,ENG, full-frame cameras, and other production equipment such as lighting kits and audio equipment. The ability to work in high-pressure environment with the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines is essential.
Candidate must be an experienced user of Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop.
Knowledge of the ANC Vsoft and Ross Xpressions System is preferred.
