SUMMARY: The role of the Head Women’s Soccer Coach is to support the Department of Athletics and promote the College’s Christian mission by providing primary leadership to the Women’s Soccer program. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellent administrative and leadership abilities, experience coaching at the collegiate level, and a desire for serving in the context of an urban Christian liberal arts institution. The following functions are the responsibility of the Head Women’s Soccer Coach.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Women’s Soccer Program Development and Supervision: a.Demonstrated knowledge of technical and tactical skills in the sport of soccer. b.Planning and executing all practice sessions. c.Game day preparation and setup. d.Recruitment of qualified student-athletes that understand and fit the institutional mission. e.Coordinate recruitment and campus visits with the Office of Admissions. f.Monitor academic progress and success of student-athletes. g.Collaboration with the scheduling coordinator for all conference and non-conference contests. h.Management of program budgets. i.Fundraising activities to enhance existing budgets. j.Adherence to all NCAA, conference, and college processes and rules. k.Coordinate the hiring, training, and mentoring of assistant coaches and/or graduate assistants with the AD. l.Provide consistent opportunities for spiritual development of student-athletes and coaching staff.

2.Department of Athletics: a.Provide clear and consistent professional communication to the Director of Athletics and to all athletic staff including regular corporate and individual meetings. b.Understanding and commitment to Division III intercollegiate athletics. c.First Aid/CPR/AED certification (can be obtained on campus). d.Attend regular individual and corporate meetings of the Athletic Department. e.Annually complete the NCAA Division III Rules Test. f.Provide home game management as assigned and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

SECONDARY REPONSIBILITIES In addition to the primary responsibilities noted above, the position of Head Women’s Soccer Coach will include secondary responsibilities to be assigned based on the specific education level, experience, and skills of the candidate. Secondary responsibilities may include, but is not limited to, one or more of the following roles: 1.Teaching courses offered in the Sports Management Program. 2.Administrative duties in accordance with NCAA, ENC, and Conference requirements. 3.Coaching role within a second sport.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

A master’s degree in a field related to athletics or administration is preferred, bachelor’s required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in collegiate coaching. Must have an established record of excellent leadership, mentoring relationships with students and staff, collegial relationships with staff and faculty, and demonstrated integration of best practices in NCAA Division III athletics. Demonstrated successful record of, and commitment to, diversity and gender equity. Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly with students and their parents, are required. Strong organizational and management skills are also necessary to successfully serve in this capacity. Candidates must possess a committed Christian faith evident in daily life, and support for the mission and educational philosophy of the College is required.
