Belhaven University, a Christ-centered university located in Jackson, MS, is receiving applications for the position of Assistant Baseball Coach / Recruiting Coordinator. The successful candidate chosen for this fulltime position will work directly under the supervision of the Head Baseball Coach to further develop a successful, competitive NCAA Division III program, grounded in discipleship and mentoring. Belhaven is an NCAA Division III institution sponsoring seventeen sports programs and holding conference membership in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS).

Position Responsibilities:

• Know and adhere to all institution, NCAA, and baseball rules and policies.
• Recruiting Coordinator
  • Recruitment of quality student-athletes
  • Create a recruiting calendar with travel assignments for all coaches
  • Keep constant communication with local and out-of-area seasonal league coaches, junior college coaches, and high school coaches.
  • Schedule and communicate visit days and times
  • Maintain an up-to-date depth chart
• Offensive coach
  • Design and implement offensive strategies in game and practice
  • Co-write the lineup for games with Head Coach
  • Create and implement offensive signs
  • Create goals and tracking methods of goals for offense
• Defensive coach
  • Structure methods to learn position specific defensive fundamentals at practice
  • Ensure all defensive check list items are practiced each week
  • Create goals and tracking methods for position specific defense
• Game Day Responsibilities
  • Offensive coordinator
    • Third base coach
    • Make in game pitch to pitch adjustments on the offensive side
  • Defensive coordinator
    • Keep all position players in best position for given situation
    • Hit pregame infield/outfield
  • Oversee offensive and defensive charting
  • Make sure field is setup and ready to go before each game

Position Requirements
1.    Bachelor’s degree
2.    Demonstrated success in coaching baseball (preferably at the collegiate level)
3.    Effective verbal and written communication skills
4.    Sound interpersonal skills in dealing with student-athletes, university personnel, and members of the off-campus community.
