The graduate assistant position is a two year assignment starting Fall 2022. Contingent upon acceptance to a graduate program this scholarship will be $15,000 for each academic year. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until position is filled. Consideration for the position is contingent upon successful admission to a Regis University’s master’s program. Interested candidates are encouraged to begin the admissions application immediately. The admissions process for Regis’ graduate programs is completely separate from the application for this position. JOB SUMMARY: It is the responsibility of the Graduate Assistant Coach to help lead a successful NCAA Division II Golf program at Regis University. The athletic programs are the front porch of the institution, and it is paramount that the Graduate Assistant Coach helps operate his/her program in a manner that is representative of Regis University. Excellence shall be attained through athletic success, academic achievement, service learning, and leadership development. This individual will support the mission of the University and bring knowledge and passion for the game of golf. This person will help guide young people spiritually, academically, and socially during their time as students on our campus.
The Head Coach is the Graduate Assistant Coach’s immediate supervisor in all matters with Regis University. To insure a highly competitive NCAA Division II athletics program, performance of these duties will be continually evaluated and monitored.

MAJOR DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of practice sessions and competition: Responsible for working in coordination with and at the direction of the Head Coach to plan and execute individual and small group practice sessions, daily practice plans, and competition preparation.
- Recruit qualified Student-Athletes: Actively recruit academically and athletically talented student-athletes within the philosophy of the Head Coach in accordance with the philosophy of Regis University, and in strict adherence to University, NCAA, and Conference regulations
- Daily operations of the Golf Program: Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the golf program including off campus practice logistics, travel logistics, maintaining countable athletically related activity (CARA) logs and practice schedules, contact database management, maintaining social media accounts, and public relations. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Monitor Student-Athlete’s academic performance: Responsible for monitoring the success of the student-athletes in their academic program with supervision of Head Coach. Assist with the coordination of team study tables as well as working cooperatively with Regis University faculty to support their student-athletes’ path to graduation.
- Fundraising for the Athletic Department: Required to fully participate and coordinate in program fundraising activities, department fundraising activities, fundraising events, University campaigns, and special project campaigns
- Professional development: Must engage in professional development. The Graduate Assistant Coach is responsible for keeping up with the current trends and developments, as well as the implementation to perform duties more effectively. Additionally, the Graduate Assistant Coach must attend pertinent professional opportunities including but not limited to RMAC, NCAA, and National Golf association meetings as required by Head Coach or Athletic Department administrators.
- Promote the brand of the Athletic Department and Regis University: Should continually strive to enhance the image of the Regis University Athletics Department and its programs through inter-personal contacts with parents, visitors, University faculty/staff, and community citizens. Additionally, each Graduate assistant coach should participate in Athletic Department and University sponsored events and initiatives.
- Service Learning: Responsible to assist Head Coach in the promotion and organization of service projects for his/her team in accordance with the staff handbook.
- Create an atmosphere of compliance: Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing of the NCAA, the RMAC, and the Regis Athletic Department. Supervise and ensure that any work-study and any other employees and/or volunteers for whom you are administratively responsible comply with the previously mentioned policies, rules, and regulations. Immediately advise the Regis Compliance Director if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
- Time commitment: Understand that this position will only be a good fit for someone who intends to make coaching a career and understands that total commitment to the program is required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited institution of higher education.
Must maintain compliance with NCAA DII recruiting modules.
Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate golf skills and strategies.
Prior experience as a NCAA college golfer.
Must maintain CPR and Safety training certificates.
Experience:
Minimum of three years of experience as a high school, club, and/or collegiate coaching.
Experience working summer volleyball camps.

Knowledge:
- Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Coaching and Motivating – knowledge of rules for college volleyball as well as teaching strategies to develop 6 skills of volleyball as well as how to motivate athletes on the court, in the classroom.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires many weekend and/or evening work. Local, regional, and national travel is required.
