Under general supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine, coordinate at a high level athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation to UC Davis intercollegiate student-athletes. Organize injury prevention programs such as Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and corrective exercises. Responsible for athletic training services of various teams as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. Services to include but are not limited to: coordination of physical exams for team, evaluation and treatment of injuries, creation and follow through on all rehabilitation programs, educate and counsel student-athletes on injury. Provide manual therapy skills applicable to orthopedics and sports medicine. Refer student-athletes to Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) team physician with injury and mental health concerns. Document injuries, treatments, rehabilitation, appointment and surgeries using electronic medical record keeping system Presagia. Update athlete’s insurance, emergency contact and medications also using Presagia. Maintain daily injury reports and schedule meetings with coaches and strength coaches. Administer first-aid to student-athletes. Maintain discretion and confidentiality and handle sensitive matters involving athletic injuries, mental illness and the respective treatments. Enforces safety procedures. Supervise undergraduate sports medicine student interns ensuring at all times they are supervised and staying within their scope as a first responder.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification – Certified Athletic Trainer.
- Current CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Experience working in an NCAA Division 1 athletics program.
- Communication skills and ability to work in an every changing environment.
- Knowledge of medical record management.
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of departmental, university, and conference policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Skills to manage a busy, efficient, and highly professional athletic training room.
- Ability to write clear and concise business correspondence and reports. Skills to supervise and manage student athletic trainers
