Iona College, an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Head Coach for Volleyball. This is a full-time, 12-month position and reports to the Director of Athletics. The Head Volleyball Coach will be responsible for developing, promoting and supervising all facets of the Colleges Women’s Volleyball program. This position will oversee the academic excellence of all student-athletes that are involved with the program, manage fundraising efforts, and provide vision and leadership for the volleyball program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -Training/Practice Preparation Establish a vision for the program. Plan, prepare, and execute practice and game plans, strategies, and alternatives which are designed to bring success to the program.

-Game Preparation - Design a competitive schedule that maximizes athlete development and performances. Relate in a positive and effective manner with officials, opponents, parents, media, and the public.

-Recruiting Recruit quality student athletes capable of pursuing the baccalaureate degree in accordance with the rules and regulations of the governing bodies and in such a manner that reflects the best interests of the program and the College.

-Budgeting and Fundraising Participate in the formulation of budget and ensure that the program operates within the approved budgetary parameters. Work in coordination with the Deputy AD and Associate AD/Development to meet the programs fundraising goals.

-Administrative Compliance Ensure that all relevant institutional, MAAC conference, and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including, but not limited to, player eligibility, recruiting, financial student aid, scheduling, and academic progress. Assist the Associate AD/Compliance in preparing all required documentation.

-Staff Management Makes all employment decisions for assistant coaching staff. Provide supervision, development, and evaluation of staff.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: B.S. degree required from a recognized college or university. Master’s preferred

 

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of collegiate Volleyball coaching experience.

 

Specialized Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Competence in leadership, and decision making. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong initiative, detail and follow up skills with students athletes and staff members.  Demonstrates professional image on and off the field. Skills in counseling, and mentoring athletes.  Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Word.                                                                                                                                                                             

Physical Requirements: Work is performed in a coaching, athletic, competitive environment. Must be in excellent physical health to handle fast pace environment.
