Chicago Fire Youth Soccer Club (CFYSC) is seeking head coaches for the 2022-23 season. CFYSC provides pre-travel and competitive travel programs for players ranging from U6-U19. With a proven track record of helping to develop players and coaches, CFYSC aims to be the premier destination in Chicagoland for young footballers.

Head Coaches are being hired within all phases of our club: Foundation (U6-U8), Soccer School (U9-U12), Pre-Formation (U13-U15), and Formation phase (U16-U19).

Key Responsibilities:

• Design effective and challenging practice sessions appropriate for the age and stage of the players and in alignment with the club’s game model
• Help create an environment that is safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning
• Guide players in their love and understanding of the game through constructive feedback and positive reinforcement
• Lead, coach, and support players during all assigned matches
• Understand and follow the club’s respective guidelines regarding systems of play, playing time, sideline behavior, and how to deliver in game coaching comments
• Promote good sportsmanship, fair play and respect for the game, officials, and opponents
• Communicate in timely and professional fashion with players, parents, officials, club leadership, and opponents
• Establish clear lines of communication with parents whether in person, email or phone
• Manage expectations of parents and players through consistent and honest feedback via informal and formal mechanisms
• Establish guidelines consistent with club rules regarding parent sideline behavior and respect to our players, the opposition, and officials
• Conduct team meetings prior, or shortly after, the start of the Fall and Spring seasons
• Provide formal feedback to players via end of season evaluations
• Receive formal feedback from Club leadership
• Participate in all staff meetings and coaching education workshops when required
• Attend when applicable all league seeding meetings and/or scheduling meetings
• Wear club assigned apparel to all work-related functions
• Abide by the club’s Safety and Wellbeing manual and Coaches Code of Conduct

Requirements:

• Minimum USSF Grassroots or D license; C license or above preferred
• Previous experience working with travel soccer teams
• A love of soccer and working with young people
• Strong communication skills (oral and written)
• Must complete all SafeSport training requirements
• Must complete and pass the club backgrounding screen process
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
• Ability to work weeknights and weekends
• Be a U.S. citizen or hold permanent resident status
