This position works 1,000 hours annually, 0.48 FTE.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following functions.
Assists with all aspects of the volleyball program.
Recruits qualified student-athletes for admission to a demanding academic environment.
Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes, including counseling team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters.
Observes all NCAA, conference and college rules and regulations.
Teaches the fundamental principles and techniques of volleyball skills (i.e. competition, traditions and sportsmanship) as well as the philosophy of the sport.
Positively and actively contributes to the College's core values of “diversity, equity and inclusion”.
Is proactive in all matters pertaining to safety among staff and participants.
Cooperates with all coaches and administrative staff within the athletics program to enhance overall department operation and student-athlete experience.
Effectively interacts with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the college and its programs, personnel, and philosophies.

Assist in scouting opponents to develop scouting report
Upload Film into Hudl.
Analyze practice and matches to improve individual and team performance
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Individuals must be able to explain and demonstrate that they possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to effectively teach and coach students in both an individual and team setting.
Ability to attend all practices, matches, team events, camps, clinics, academy.
Ability to execute those physical activities required to perform the essential functions of the position(bowling, chipping, float serve, controlled down ball, toss to hit, etc).
Knowledge of and proficiency with Mac operating systems.
Ability to use Front Rush to organize and track communication and status updates.
Ability to recruit outstanding student-athletes to a strong academic environment.
Ability to advance the college's core values of diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism.
Ability to successfully articulate the values of a liberal arts education and the role intercollegiate athletics plays in the development of student athletes.
Proficient in use of various social media platforms.
Communicate with Whitman admissions on prospective student-athletes
Ability to attend matches and tournaments in PNW and around the country.
Ability to provide individual academic and athletic feedback and guidance to student-athletes.
Ability to provide a positive environment and be a positive role-model for student-athletes.
Ability to coordinate transportation, lodging and meals with off campus travel.
Thorough knowledge of all applicable NCAA Division III and Conference rules as they apply to volleyball.
Must possess a current driver's license valid in the state of Washington.
Ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain harmonious relations with other staff, faculty and students.
Special projects and other duties as needed by the Head Coach.
College coaching experience
At least two years of successful volleyball coaching experience.
Desire to pursue a career in coaching or athletics at the high school or college level.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to execute those physical activities required to perform the essential functions including, but not limited to, regular standing, sitting, and being mobile; frequent walking, running, and reaching; occasional throwing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying weights up to 50 lbs.; communicating both in person and on the telephone; frequent keyboarding; and all other activities required to perform essential functions.
