About University of North Florida Athletics
The University of North Florida serves as one of 11 public universities in Florida. UNF opened in 1972 and began admitting freshmen in 1984. The UNF Department of Athletics believes in total commitment to improving the lives of its student-athletes. All decisions are based on the idea that our athletes, who are the leaders of tomorrow, are students first. The commitment is providing student-athletes with the assistance necessary to balance athletic and academic participation. The University enrolls approximately 17,000 students and is located in Jacksonville, a major metropolitan center of Northeast Florida. The University of North Florida competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference and sponsors 19 Division I intercollegiate athletic sports which include baseball, basketball (m&w), cross country (m&w), golf (m&w), sand volleyball (w), soccer (m&w), softball, swimming and diving (w), tennis (m&w), indoor track (m&w) and outdoor track (m&w) and women's volleyball.
