Position Summary Develops student athletes of Fordham University using a holistic, evidence-based training program to reduce the likelihood of injury and enhance performance.
Essential Functions •Designs, implements, and evaluates sport-specific speed, strength, and conditioning for varsity teams as assigned by the Assistant AD. •Analyzes nutritional/behavioral habits of student-athletes and educates them on healthy/high performance choices. •Enters computer data of strength, speed, and conditioning test results, athlete nutritional analyses, and other data as necessary. •Communicates with sport coaches and sports medicine staff regarding physical training issues and injury limitations of student-athletes. •Anticipates potential risks of injury, taking measures to reduce them, and, in the event of an injury, having the ability to implement emergency medical procedures. •Assists with organizing, recruiting, and educating strength and conditioning interns to assist with the day-to-day operations of the strength and conditioning department. •Assists with the production of educational materials/content for student-athletes and recruits. •Assists with facility scheduling. •Assists the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance with all tasks for which he or she is responsible and with the general operation of the facility in his or her absence. •Complies with all NCAA, Atlantic 10, Patriot League, and University rules and regulations. •Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications •Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health/Physical Education. •National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification, or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCC) certification. CPR and First Aid certification. •Proven success in all areas of strength and conditioning programming, Olympic style lifts, plyometrics, speed development, conditioning, and mobility development. •High energy, a growth mindset, and a hunger to learn are non-negotiable attributes to become a part of Fordham University Strength and Conditioning. •Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications •Master’s Degree. •Working in a collegiate strength and conditioning environment.
