This position is the day-to-day legal liaison to NCAA championships and related functions for contract drafting and interpretation, as well as legal issues related to business partners, including licensing, media, and corporate relationships. This position also has legal oversight over the Association’s intellectual property. The position also interacts with other NCAA national office departments that have need for legal analysis.
Must have a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school.
A minimum of ten years as a lawyer actively practicing law.
A minimum of seven years as in-house counsel and/or as outside counsel specifically working on matters for clients in fields of higher education, sports, media, and/or entertainment.
Active bar admission in at least one state with eligibility to be recognized for Indiana business counsel licensure.
Ability to travel up to 10% for business.
All national office staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. As a new hire, you will be required to be fully vaccinated within 8 weeks from acceptance of offer and you will be required to show proof of that vaccination. National office staff (including new hires) who are not fully vaccinated, will be required to undergo weekly PCR testing until fully vaccinated. New hires may submit a request for a medical or religious exemption to the vaccine requirement 1-week post offer if they cannot comply with this mandate.
