Lead strategic communications and brand visibility initiatives for Purdue Football, guiding short-term and long-term planning to best position the program in the areas of outward communications, media relations and the social/digital media landscape. Will work with the Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Communications in conceptualizing creative concepts to enhance outreach efforts to key stakeholders and constituent groups, including local and national media, fans, donors, prospective recruits and the general public. Will collaborate closely with assigned sport coaches and staff to best represent program ideals through traditional media methods and digital opportunities.
50% Lead strategic communications and brand visibility initiatives for Purdue Football, guiding short-term and long-term planning to best position the program in the areas of outward communications, media relations and the social/digital media landscape. Lead publicity efforts for Purdue Football program, managing media relations and developing communications that inform and inspire action from key stakeholders and constituent groups. Will guide the overall Boilermaker brand as it pertains to the football program, including plan ideation and execution in collaboration with creative services personnel, marketing staff and football coaching staff. 25% Generate information, publications and research that is the best representation of Purdue Football. Provide communications oversight to potentially one Olympic sport program, including communications efforts and social/digital media initiatives. Assist in overall communications, publicity and branding efforts for the athletics department in collaboration with fellow communications staff, marketing personnel, John Purdue Club staff and the creative services department. 10% Work alongside and collaborate with television and radio partners to best position local, regional and national coverage of Purdue Football and/or additionally assigned sport programs. 10% Guide media operations for home football games on an annual basis, including credential approval processes, allocation of seating locations and designation of camera locations. 5% Travel with assigned sport programs, as needed and when necessary, to execute strategic communication duties. Provide supporting coverage, as needed, throughout strategic communications department.
Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field of study preferred. 5 years of communications experience in a college athletics, sports organization, university or conference setting.
