James Madison University, a Division I Member of the NCAA and Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking two Video Assistants to be housed within the Creative Services & Fan Engagement unit.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assisting the Associate Director of Video Services and Creative Services staff with content production to meet the needs of coverage of 18 sport programs at the NCAA Division I level, with an emphasis on live event coverage.
Shooting assignments at sporting events; editing game highlights and cinematic recaps; hype videos; feature content for television, streaming, video boards and social media.
Shooting green screen and editing for social motion graphics.
Creation of graphics and content for live broadcasts, assisting and setting up for live events such as live games, weekly and post game press conferences to be streamed on Facebook Live.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant institutional, CAA and NCAA rules. Emphasis is placed on constantly-evolving strategies and methods for content and live production for promotion of an athletics program in the current digital age.
Successful candidates should possess experience in sports video content development and live production.
Candidates must possess good interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of live production workflow and ability to create graphics for television packages, video filming techniques (shooting and editing) as well as proficiency with video production software, preferred experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and other Adobe Creative Cloud elements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Individuals must demonstrate knowledge of the video production process, camera operation, different camera and lens types, proper filming techniques, lighting design, audio production and the post-production process.
Candidates must be highly motivated, energetic, be able to balance multiple tasks, produce high-quality work on tight deadlines and be able to manage a work schedule that includes some evening and weekend work.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred with areas of study in media design, multimedia, cinematography, digital arts, audio/video technology, communications or a related field.
