Position Summary / Career Interest: The Student Athlete Behavioral Health Clinician works closely with the Student Athlete Wellness Program Manager to provide clinical care services to student athletes at The University of Kansas in a collaborative effort to enhance their personal, academic and athletic success. Position Description: •Provide clinical services including, but not limited to, psychotherapy, including individual counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and case management to student-athletes within an integrated model for providing physical and mental health services. •Demonstrate evidence of cultural competency and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. •Act as facilitator to specific peer groups; eating disorders, medically disqualified, etc.; •Facilitate student-athlete access and transition to appropriate mental health providers for ongoing pharmacologic and longer term or specialized behavioral therapies as appropriate. •Works collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary team including Team Physician(s), Physician Assistant, Sport Team Athletic Trainer and Dieticians. •Participate in the Mental Health Emergency Action Management Plan (MHEAMP), as per specifications for position and dictates of the Plan. •Maintains current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and Kansas Team Health policies. •Other duties as assigned.
Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related field.
Kansas Licensure at the clinical level (LSCSW, LPC, LCP, LCMFT).
Three years of clinical practice working with college population.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Highly skilled use of Microsoft Office products (Exchange, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.), project management tools, databases, system technology and databases
Certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) or equivalent training and experience.
Experience working with collegiate athlete population.
