The assistant coach will work with the head coach to develop and maintain a positive student-athlete experience that focuses on student-athlete development, building an inclusive culture, recruiting elite prospective student-athletes, and contributing positively to the College’s Athletic Department. The coach will help create purpose and value to the College’s and the Athletic Department missions.
The candidate will assist the head coach with the organization and direction of all aspects of a competitive softball program. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist head coach in aspects of daily operations of a competitive intercollegiate softball program. Assist in preparation for practices, competitions and travel. May assist head coach in recruiting high-level student-athletes. Assist in monitoring and mentoring academic progress of student-athletes. Additional responsibility as event manager during the fall and winter.
This position will work approximately 1,465 hours for 2021/2022 fiscal year. This position is benefits eligible
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of college softball coaching or playing experience required. A valid U.S. driver’s license; evenings and weekend work, as well as travel, required. The ability to throw front toss, hit ground balls and flyballs is required and must be able to lift equipment associated with the sport.
Candidates should possess an understanding of NCAA Division III rules and regulations and be able to demonstrate the ability to coach women’s softball at the college level. Candidates need to possess strong oral and written communication skills plus organizational skills. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of and/or experience in a residential, liberal arts college environment.
