Job Description Under the general direction of the Chief Athletics Compliance Officer and direct supervision of the Senior Director of Athletics Compliance independently manages all aspects of athletics and financial aid provided to student-athletes; participates in financial aid related rules education and internal monitoring activities to ensure that all goals and objectives are met with strict adherence to NCAA, Pac-12 Conference, and Arizona State University rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of Sun Devil Athletics (SDA) and the Arizona Board of Regents.
Manage the organization and processing of grants-in-aid and their compliance with scholarship limitations.
Serve as the Compliance Offices primary liaison to the University’s student financial aid office.
Oversee the SDA (Sun Devil Athletics) textbook program.
Manage the vacation meal money distribution and the athletics grant-in-aid renewal and modification processes. Assist with management of the Student-Athlete Assistance Fund.
Prepare NCAA squad lists and National Letters of Intent.
Direct and coordinate financial aid compliance activities with coaches, staff, student-athletes, and other institutional staff members.
Develop accurate and timely reports as necessary for auditors, University administrators, Pac-12 Conference, and NCAA officials.
Provide counseling to student-athletes and their parents regarding federal, state, athletics, and other financial aid.
Research and provide financial-aid-related legislative interpretations as assigned within the Compliance Office.
Participate in the education of SDA and other athletics stakeholders regarding NCAA, Pac-12, and University rules and regulations especially in the area of NCAA Bylaw 15.
Review and enhance current as well as develop and implement new policies and procedures relating to awarding and adjusting federal, state, athletics, and other financial aid to student-athletes that are all designed to maintain institutional control within SDA.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing professional networks.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in related field and three years’ experience in student financial aid at the college/university level which includes experience working with athletically related financial aid; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained.
Evidence of an advanced degree and at least one year of full-time post-baccalaureate NCAA Division I compliance experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I legislation in the areas of financial aid.
Ability to interpret and apply campus financial aid policies, administrative procedures, and relevant state and federal regulations.
Experience in using computer and analytical skills.
Experience balancing multiple projects.
Experience working in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
Experience using compliance monitoring systems, CAi, PeopleSoft, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
Experience communicating at a high professional level both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of NCAA Division I and Pac-12 Conference financial aid rules and regulations.
Knowledge of athletics compliance systems and investigative methods/techniques of alleged violations/enforcement.
Knowledge of management principles and practices.
Knowledge of principles and practices in an athletics compliance environment in a college/university environment.
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
Skill in working with Microsoft Office suite of applications, LSDBi, and Compliance Assistant.
Skill in problem-solving and decision- making.
Skill in educating others in proper compliance procedures.
Experience in collaboration as a team member.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to interpret and apply relevant NCAA, Pac-12, and University rules and regulations.
Ability to work effectively with coaches, student- athletes, and athletics and other University administrators.

Department Statement The Office of Athletics Compliance reports to the President, through the Senior Vice President and General Counsel. This position reports to the Executive Director of Athletics Compliance through a Director of Athletics Compliance. The Athletics Compliance Office is located in the Carson Student-Athlete Center on the Tempe campus.
